Give every day the chance to become
the most beautiful day of your life. ~ Mark Twain
Mark Twain was right and probably a little ahead of his time. Every day I have a choice about how I want to face the day and how I want to respond to whatever happens during the day. To do that, I need to be present in my day and view all of its moments as gifts. They won't ever happen again the same way.
I don't have to over engineer each moment (which I've been guilty of in the past). I also don't need to be so deliberate in my responses to my day that they come across as fake or contrived. I simply need to be. No explanation. No excuses. No overthinking. Just be.
Beauty comes in many forms. A gorgeous sunrise. A beautiful sunset. Birds on a bird feeder. It can be a new idea. An old one. A smile. A challenge that makes my brain think. Good food. Good friends. Play. The feeling that comes from doing something nice for someone else, even when no one is looking. The satisfaction of a job completed – whether it was well done or not. It can also be time that's unstructured and spent just hanging out with no agenda.
We don’t have to look very far to be inspired by beauty. It surrounds us every day starting with our first look in the mirror.
What are you doing to give every day the chance to become the most beautiful day of your life?
